Today is dedicated to the colourful and wonderfully bohemian port city of Valparaíso. You have a private guide with you to help you delve a little deeper into its vivid past and vibrant present.
The first part of the day is all about the architecture of the city. Valparaíso is a fantastically characterful place - look at the beautiful old wooden houses, some of which are falling into disrepair but in a somehow elegant manner. Also, look up at the brilliantly crazy overhead wiring - this is a place prone to earthquakes so everything's bundled overhead instead of underground.
Most famously, the street art is amazing, and it's everywhere. From doorways painted as trompe l'oeil to staircases painted as piano keyboards, there are delightful paintings everywhere.
The second half of the day is where the community side of the tour really shines through. You'll be the guests of a lovely, welcoming Porteña family who will prepare the most generous, fresh and delightful meal you could wish for. It's an experience based around local flavours and local people, good food and great company. You'll leave today feeling that you haven't just 'seen' Valparaíso, but really got to know something of the city and its people.
