Spanish Pyrenees Multigenerational Family Adventure
General
Wi-Fi in hotels: the quality of connection varies greatly by destination. We encourage you to disconnect whenever you can in order to fully enjoy your holiday but equally appreciate that there are times when being connected matters. The following is a general guide by country/region but if you have specific requirements, please discuss these with the team.

Spain & Portugal: expect good wi-fi in city hotels both in common areas and bedrooms. In smaller village properties and in the countryside the coverage will typically drop meaning that common areas have good signal but bedrooms much less so. Often this is due to hotels being housed in old buildings with solid stone walls.

Central & South America: city and town hotels have good wi-fi in common areas and bedrooms. Most hotels in the countryside and out in nature are designed as separated rooms/cabins scattered out across gardens or forest with a stand alone main living area and reception. Wi-fi will typically not be powerful enough to make it as far as the rooms but will be available at reception and surrounding areas.

Galapagos Islands: on land hotels will have wi-fi connection. On boats you should assume no wi-fi is available though some boats now do have it (albeit via mobile networks so not high capacity) - typically this will attract a supplement.

Antarctica: you will not have internet access on any cruise to Antarctica other than via satellite for a substantial premium.
Where do we travel to?
International travel is quoted separately for this holiday. There are a few options:

If you are flying, then Bilbao (BIO) is four hours away by car, Barcelona (BCN) about three. Zaragoza (ZAZ) is closest - about two hours - but flights are less frequent (though fast trains connect with Madrid).

Keep in mind that if you pick up a car at one place and drop it off at another, you will be charged a one-way fee on collection, usually around €30-€75.

For international train travel, you can take a direct train to Girona or Barcelona from Paris. To Bilbao, you would change trains at Bayonne.

If you are bringing your own car then driving through France and over the Pyrenees is the obvious way, or ferry to Bilbao from Portsmouth.

What happens with meals that are not included?

On this trip, particularly in summer, there are options near your accommodation to get meals out in restaurants and cafés. Aínsa has a lot of great options and is a 5-minute drive. Your hotel also has its own restaurant, so you needn't leave base on nights you choose to eat in.

What if we get lost or need some help?
On the independent parts of this trip, we are always on hand to help and advise should you need us and for emergencies, you have a 24-hour number to call. It should be said though that we provide easy-to-use navigational guidance for driving, meaning it should be very difficult for you to get into any bother!

We don’t speak Spanish – is that a problem?
No, your hosts speak English perfectly well. In busier areas of the main tourist places, English will be widely spoken. In the countryside, in smaller restaurants and villages, English is less frequently spoken. Aside from the occasional pointing and gesturing, you'll have no problems. Part of the charm is going to places where English is not the dominant language in our experience. It's a great excuse to get the kids practicing the lingo!

Can we make changes to this trip?
We can tailor the trip in certain ways, making sure that we retain its essence through the pacing and content. We're always happy to work within your timeframes, so if you have two weeks for your travels, we can add time along the Basque coast for example.

Will we get to meet the locals?
That's very much the idea yes. Beyond the time you spend with your local hosts and guides, the spirit of this trip is very much one of discovery and so we assume you'll enjoy striking up conversations with the locals as you go, even if it's with a bit of 'Spanglish' to get by. It's all good fun and all very authentic in our experience.

How do we book?
Typically, the sequence is as follows:

i) You give us the thumbs up once you are happy with your trip.
ii) We take a 20% deposit by bank transfer or visa/mastercard credit or debit card.
iii) We reconfirm all services for you.
iv) We provide your login for your "MyPura" account online, and this is where you'll find all of your 'paperwork', your itinerary details, ATOL certificates and so on.

Your balance is due ten weeks prior to travel. Two to three weeks prior to travel the final details of your trip will be uploaded to your personal travel app. This will include your flight tickets, contact numbers for every guide, local information and every detail you might need while away.

As you would expect, we are always available and remain in touch throughout the process to make sure that you have all you need to enjoy a fantastic trip.
