Spanish Pyrenees Multigenerational Family Adventure
How comfortable?
Hotel Monasterio de Boltaña is a much larger property than we tend to use but that's partly because it is an old monastery - a grand stone building in a spectacular location a few kilometres along the road from Ainsa. Previously a Barcélo property it has great facilities such as a spa, gym and large outdoor pool. It's the pool which is the superpower of this place, and a rarity in these parts. It's a lovely way to cool off and relax at the end of a day in the mountains. Rooms at the hotel are decorated in a fairly traditional style, lots of stone and wood - nice and calming on a bright day, somewhat For families, we tend to prefer the villa suites which are set off to the side of the property - more space & privacy with two separate bedrooms and bathrooms. As much as we like the fact that the hotel was taken back into local ownership in 2024 it has led to service being a little less consistent - notably in the shoulder/winter season. We find that it's still the best option for families in the Ordesa/Ainsa area - the landscapes and activities make a stay here very well worthwhile.
