B Corps are part of a global economy that uses business as a force for good, conducted as if people and place mattered. In short, B-Corp is proof that we are doing business better. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit & purpose.
Certification involves auditing five key areas of business: governance, community, customers, workers and environment. It is not an easy process, many companies simply do not (yet) make the grade. For those who do, it still routinely takes 18 months. Recertification happens every three years.
As of June 2023, there are approaching 7,000 member companies across 91 countries spanning 161 industries, employing over 600,000 people. You will have heard of Patagonia Inc, Coutts & Co, Danone, Body Shop, Abel & Cole but once you start seeing them everywhere...the UK is the fastest growing B Corp community in the world.
Pura Aventura is proudly one of the very first travel companies in the UK to certify as B Corp. Pura Aventura is co-founder of Travel by B Corp a collective of like-minded travel companies working together to promote B Corp as a true sign of trust, travel companies who go beyond words and commit to action which makes travel a force for good. With over 20 member travel companies now signed up, we are becoming the go-to voice of sustainable travel in the UK.
