Today's drive to the volcanic foothills of La Garrotxa is the longest of the trip so it makes sense to set off early to make the most of the day.
There's still time for one last stop in this central part of the Pyrenees, a walk along the spectacular and dramatic Mont Rebei canyon. It really is the last hurrah of the Pyrenees as the mountains transition to the open plains of northern Spain.
This is not a treat for anyone with a fear of heights though there is a guide rope attached to the wall alongside the path so it isn't completely barmy. From the parking area, you walk across an open landscape for 2km or so before entering the canyon proper - at this stage you can choose how far you want to walk so again, easy, moderate and challenging versions are all possible.
For something more gentle, you have the picturesque rolling pastures and pine forests of the little-visited Cadí-Moixero en route too.
Restored from a medieval rectory, your charmingly rustic small hotel offers a warm welcome from Goretti and Roy and some very tasty food. Enjoy a drink by the fireplace before dinner in the restaurant of the hotel.
