Roman remains are everywhere in this city
The epic 'Castellers' monument
Catalan mural in Tarragona
The sun sets over Tarragona
After a leisurely breakfast, you'll now travel down to the lower reaches of the Penedés wine region to meet the coast. From here you follow the coast to Tarragona, once the biggest Roman city outside of Rome. With the remains of an amphitheatre, circus and forum on your doorstep, such vivid history soon becomes very clear.

Tarragona is a compact city made for strolling. As in Barcelona, a great way to explore at your own pace and hear tales from its colourful past is with our partner's clever audio guide system, which you'll love. Later please do head up to your hotel's terrace for a sundowner - the views are incredible.

H10 Imperial Tarraco

The H10 Imperial in Tarragona has a real 'wow factor'. From many of the rooms, and most dazzlingly from the panoramic rooftop terrace, views stretch far and wide across the Mediterranean sea, the Roman amphitheatre, the city rooftops and beyond to the mountains. Rooms are flooded with natural light and feel especially spacious and comfortable. You have either a rain shower or a freestanding bath, and rooms all have a Nespresso coffee machine. Subject to availability, our favourite rooms are the 'Mare' balcony rooms with sea views. The old town's restaurants and shops are a short walk away, and it's 600m to the Renfe station if you are catching a train. If you want to dine in, there's a restaurant downstairs and if you want a bit of pampering, there's a spa which you can use at an additional cost.
