Option A for today makes for a long but memorable day as you visit the Ebro Delta.
Leaving El Priorat you travel down to sea level to where the Iberian Peninsula's second biggest river spills into the Mediterranean. On the way you can stop at a moving tribute to the Battle of the Ebro, the most important of its kind in the Spanish Civil War, and a more jolly pair of Modernist winery buildings.
The Ebro Delta is a special place. Whether you love birds or not, you'll be swept away by the sight of thousands of flamingos gathered in coastal lagoons. You don't have to be an agricultural buff to get a kick out of the monumental tractors doing their thing in the rice terraces. As this is one of Spain's most fertile floodplains, the abundance and quality of produce shines through in local restaurants, be you a vegan, veggie or other. Stay long enough and you might round off the day with one of the epic sunsets the Delta specialises in.
If you can't face the drive though, simply set your sights closer to home and either walk through the vines to the ruins of the Escaladei, the very cradle of Priorat wine production, or head out with your car to explore the villages and hills.
